Branding
It’s no secret that the nation’s colleges are currently facing a dip in enrollment. In an effort to strengthen Kenyon’s admissions strategy, the college’s VP of Enrollment and the Director of Brand Strategy came to me with a wonderful opportunity to rebrand a higher-ed admissions initiative called Eight of the Best Colleges. Eight of the Best is essentially a tour representing similarly ranked liberal arts colleges that schedules events across the country that allow for prospective students to learn about all eight colleges in one place. The rebranding effort involved collaboration with a contracted writer, who played in an essential role in nailing down a new verbal tone for the brand while I provided a new visual tone.
The former Eight of the Best identity felt dated and overly formal, which isn’t particularly inspiring to 18 year olds assessing their college options. My goal with the new mark was to create a look that feels approachable yet intelligent while symbolically referencing the joint efforts of the eight colleges in a more effective way.
